Description:
A small to medium-sized leaf-warbler, very similar to Tickell's. From Tickell's by colder brownish-grey upperparts lacking any greenish tones, greyish-white edges to remiges, and duller buffish underparts. Supercilium is bright sulphur-yellow, brighter than throat, and has grey-brown ear-coverts and sides of breast.
Distribution:
Common summer visitor western half of Gilgit-Baltistan, rare in Astore and Baltistan region. Occurs in dry stony mountain slopes, scree and boulder-strewn hillsides with low scattered juniper and other shrubs; also villages, mostly at 2000-3500m.
Behavior:
Forages mostly on the ground; nervously flicks wings from time to time, also creeps sideways on tree trunks in manner of a treecreeper, and shuffles along branches in manner of a nuthatch. Food mostly small insects, especially small beetles, including weevils, and larvae, also molluscs.
